Storytelling

Let the power of storytelling bring magic to your world. In our daily lives, much of the wonder and mystery is stripped away. But the richness of our cultural heritage shelters our dreams and paints our visions of how we wish our world could be. Today, we have the opportunity to strengthen this cultural fabric with strands from all around the globe. Storytelling enriches the lives of us all, no matter how old we are.

Master storyteller and award winning author Karyn Zweifel presents stories from a variety of cultures to enrich programming in schools, libraries and other events. Below are just two programs offered; please contact her for other presentations available.

Forever Faithful: Dog Ghosts through the Years
Based on Karyn’s popular book, Doggone Ghost Stories, these selected tales will warm your heart and raise your hackles too. A forty-five-minute presentation for 5th-8th graders begins with a brief overview of how the book came to be written. Then the author takes a look at the power of imagination. Asking simple questions starting with the phrase "what if" is the first step on a road of lifelong discovery. The heart of the program is a selection of ghost stories, a perennial favorite with children. The tales spark a lively discussion of spooky personal experiences which can be the basis for future creative writing projects.
